It is possible that you want to empty your entire course or sandbox to be able to redesign it, for example because you accidentally duplicated content or that you have copied the wrong content from another course to the current course or your sandbox. There is no button with which you can remove all content from your course or sandbox in one go. You do it per part and in the order as described here to prevent problems with linked parts.
After removing all parts you have an empty course. Only the group list is the same, so your students are still in your course. You can now rebuild your course or copy another course, or parts of this, to your course via Copy Course.
1. Delete Announcements
Navigate to homepage of in your course.
- Click on the arrow next to Announcements.
- Click on Go to Announcements tool.
- Check the box next to Title to select all announcements.
- Click Delete. Then click Yes to confirm.
2. Delete content
Navigate to Content in your course's navbar.
- Click the module you want to remove in the Table of Contents on the left.
- Click on the three dots on the right to open the menu.
- Click Delete.
Choose what you want to delete in the pop-up screen and click Delete.
Score items associated with an Activity cannot be deleted. If you've followed the steps in this article, all associations with Activities have already been removed and you should (if all goes well) have no problems removing score items.
3. Delete files
After you have deleted the content and linked items, it is possible that (unlinked) files remain. You remove it this way:
- Navigate to Course Tools in your course's navbar.
- Click Course Administration.
- Under Site Resources, click Manage Files.
- Select the box at the top left of the table to select all items.
- Click the trash icon (Delete). Then click Yes to confirm.
4. Delete assignments
• Click Assignments in your course's navbar.
- Select the top left box to select all commands.
- Click More Actions.
- Click Delete. Then click Delete again to confirm.
5. Delete discussions
- Go to Course Tools in the navbar of your course.
- Click Discussions
- Click More Actions.
- Click Delete.
- Select Select all to delete all discussion.
- Click Delete.
If you use Surveys and Checklists, you can delete them in the same way as Discussions. To do this, navigate under Course Tools to Surveys or Checklists and follow the steps above.
6. Delete quizzes and questions from the Question Library
- Navigate to Course Tools in your course's navbar.
- Click Quizzes.
- Navigate to Manage Quizzes.
- Select the Current Quizzes box to select all tests.
- Click More Actions.
- Click Delete. Then click Delete again to confirm.
- Then click Question Library to empty the question library.
- Select the box at the top left of the table to select all folders and questions.
- Click Delete. Then click Delete again to confirm.
- Click Done Editing Questions to return to Tests.
You choose whether you want to permanently delete modules and topics with or without the linked files and activities.
8. Delete rubrics
- Navigate to Course Tools in your course's navbar.
- Click Course Manager.
- Under Assessment, click Rubrics
- Select the top left box to select all rubrics.
- Click the trash icon (Delete). Then click Delete to confirm.
7. Delete grade items
• Click Grades in your course's navbar.
- Click Manage Grades.
- Click More Actions.
- Click Delete.
- Select the upper left corner to select all grade items.
- Click Delete. Then click Delete again to confirm.
Delete groups
- Navigate to Course Tools in your course's navbar.
- Click Course Administration, then under Learners Management, click Groups
- or
- Under Course Tools, click groups.
- Select the top left box to select all groups.
- Click Remove. A Confirmation pop-up will appear.
- Click Delete Groups to delete the selected groups.
When deleting groups in Brightspace, make sure that you do not delete the linked OSIRIS groups.
- Then select Permanently delete all modules, topics, and all associated files and activities from the course and click Delete again.
