When you are assigned a course environment as a teacher, it already contains a banner: an image at the top of your course homepage. This image also forms your course thumbnail in the course map, making it easy and quick for students to navigate to your course. As a teacher, you can change the banner to better suit your course. You can upload your own image or choose an image from the Brightspace image bank.
- Navigate from your homepage to the desired course. You land on Home courses.
- Click on the dots at the top right of the banner.
- Click 'Change Image'.
- Scroll through the images or search for an image using the search bar.
- Hover your mouse over the image you want to use. You will see the text 'Use this image' appear. Click on this to use the image as a banner.
- Click 'Upload' if you want to use your own image.
- Click on the cross to go back to Courses homepage without changing the image.
An image that you upload to Brightspace yourself may appear differently than you intended, as Brightspace automatically adjusts to different screen sizes and resolutions to optimize the user experience.
D2L recommends an image size of 2400 x 960 pixels for best image quality, and the actual banner image size is 1170 x 200 pixels. Since images are automatically resized for the correct location and display, you can crop the image to 1170 x 200 pixels or make sure the center of your image displays exactly what you want.
